"E-Mode" and "Hybrid"

The Touareg R eHybrid has two distinct driving modes, E-MODE and Hybrid mode. These driving modes work in conjunction with the six driving profile selection modes and can be selected from the 4MOTION Active Control menu in the updated Innovision Cockpit. 

When the battery is sufficiently charged, the Touareg R always starts in all-electric E-MODE. If a high power demand is detected, the V6 TSI motor automatically kicks in. Hybrid mode seamlessly switches between both the combustion engine and electric motor depending on the driving situation for optimal use of the high voltage battery.

Maximum dynamics – R-style

Experience unmatched power and performance with the Touareg R eHybrid. Combining a turbocharged 3.0L V6 petrol engine with an electric motor, this powerhouse delivers an extraordinary 340kW of power and 700Nm of torque. The combination makes the Touareg R the most powerful series production Volkswagen of all time. Thanks to the boosting by full electric power from the electric motor, the Touareg R accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 5.1 seconds.²

PHEV technology

Embark on an electrifying journey with the Touareg R eHybrid – Volkswagen Australia’s first PHEV to be offered. Featuring an 100kW electric motor with 400Nm of torque, the Touare R can glide silently in full electric mode for up to an impressive 51 kilometres³, all while leaving zero tailpipe emissions. Plus, with convenient charging options, including a standard 2.3kW household socket for an approximate 8-hour full charge or an upgraded wallbox for a swift 2.5-hour charge at 7.2kW, the Touareg R ensures you're always powered up and ready to go.

The Volkswagen Signature

The front and rear of the Touareg R has a completely new light signature. The rear lights retain the ‘click-clack’ light signature which now incorporates a light bar across the entire rear of the boot finished off with an illuminated VW roundel (a first for Volkswagen Australia). The side mirrors also feature puddle lights which project the R logo on the ground.

Light just where you need it

HD LED headlights have 19,200 precision pixels which allow for long-range and precision light projection. Lane Light highlights the lane marking and the edge of the road, Side Assist provides warnings by highlighting the side of the lane when a vehicle is in your blind spot and Orientation light shows the width of the vehicle while navigating a narrow road or construction site.⁷

Park Assist Plus

The new Touareg R can help relieve the stress of finding that perfect parking spot with smart sensors that not only tell you if a space is large enough when you drive past – but by doing the manoeuvring for you too. Park Assist Plus further aides the driver by taking over the throttle, braking and gear change functions.⁷

Emergency Assist

Combines the functions of Lane Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control. The system is alerted when no steering, braking or acceleration activity is detected despite sensing traffic ahead. Initially, the system attempts to wake the driver by steering jerks and finally an emergency stop is initiated and hazard warning lights are activated.⁷

Area View

Manoeuvring in the busy city centre, in a multi-storey car park or in rough terrain: There are many situations in which drivers could use a few extra eyes. With the "Area View" you get four cameras that capture the area around the car and transmit helpful insights to the screen of the infotainment system. For example, you can see curbs or parking markings better and can even look around the corner.⁷
